JaM Cellars

Owners John and Michelle (JaM) Truchard have created quite a following in a relatively short amount of time. With the name of their wine label being called JaM, they employed the help of winemaker Rob Lloyd (who spent 8 years at Rombauer) to produce a rich, jammy style red called JAM. Well, that wine was a huge hit, and since Rob knew a thing or two about making Chardonnays, it only made sense that this white wine should be called “Butter”. As the name implies, this is a rich, buttery style of Chardonnay Napa wine.

Napa Valley
Napa Valley is considered one of the top wine growing regions in the world. The combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology of the valley are conducive to growing quality wine grapes. Located in Northern California, about 50 miles northeast of the San Francisco Bay Area and about 60 miles west of Sacramento, Napa Valley is 30 miles long and 5 miles across at its widest point. The range of grape varieties grown in Napa has evolved over the last 150 years but Cabernet Sauvignon has risen to be the star performer. Napa Valley received its own AVA designation in 1981. Within the Napa Valley AVA, 15 subappellations have emerged that possess distinct microclimates and terrains, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are some of Napa’s other prominent grapes.
