John Anthony Vineyards

John learned farming techniques from some of the most notable names in the Napa Valley. Andre Tchelistcheff, Mike Grgich, Joe Heitz, Larry Hyde, Dan Duckhorn, John Williams, Larry Turley, Herb Lamb, and of course his father Tony Truchard, all influenced the vintner John has become.

Today John owns a successful vineyard management company, which custom planted and farms each and every vineyard for the John Anthony brand. He blends state of the art farming practices with the knowledge passed down from pioneering farmers of years past. This history in farming and new school technique is at the core of John Anthony Vineyards

Napa Valley
Napa Valley is considered one of the top wine growing regions in the world. The combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology of the valley are conducive to growing quality wine grapes. Located in Northern California, about 50 miles northeast of the San Francisco Bay Area and about 60 miles west of Sacramento, Napa Valley is 30 miles long and 5 miles across at its widest point. The range of grape varieties grown in Napa has evolved over the last 150 years but Cabernet Sauvignon has risen to be the star performer. Napa Valley received its own AVA designation in 1981. Within the Napa Valley AVA, 15 subappellations have emerged that possess distinct microclimates and terrains, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are some of Napa’s other prominent grapes.
